Many of our patients seeking to have double-jaw (orthognathic) surgery do so because their maxilla and/or mandible has a shape or placement that is not functional, causing malocclusion. Surgery involves one jaw or both jaws during the same procedure. The modification is done by making cuts in the bones of the mandible and/or maxilla and repositioning the cut pieces in the desired alignment.
