Jaw Surgery Recovery Tips - Drinking Alcohol and Smoking After Cosmetic Surgery in Korea

Jaw Surgery Recovery Tips - Drinking Alcohol and Smoking  After Cosmetic Surgery in Korea

When can patients who had surgery start drinking alcohol again?
Patients can recover well if they avoid smoking and drinking alchol after cosmetic surgery. Then let's see what happens if you don't avoid alchol and smoking? and when is it ok to consume alcohol?
The timing of when a patient can start to drink alcohol after plastic surgery will depend on a number of factors.
The basic factor is that alcohol has a number of effects that can alter post-operative results of a patient.
Moreover, if you had jaw surgery(face line surgery), it is reasonable to consume alcohol moderately starting 2 weeks after surgery to recover the stitches inside the mouth. If you don't follow it, you will get an infection and it will require more recovery peiod.
So, after the Orthognathic(jaw) surgery, it's better to go for a walk and eat something that reduces swelling rather than drinking alchol. It improves blood circulation which helps to reduce swelling.

When can you resume smoking cigarettes or using tobacco?
Smoking and tobacco use are about the worst things you can do with regards to wound healing and infection risk.
It is absolutely critical that if you do restart, you wait at least 6 weeks after surgery to allow the incisions to progress with regards to healing.
During this time you must strictly avoid second hand smoke exposure as well.
If you are a person who consume alcohol, you should stop doing this one week prior to the operation, because alcohol fouls the organism. It slows the movement of food through the stomach and irritates the stomach lining, which can cause vomitting. Also alcohol can cause the effect of a sedative agent, in such cases it would be more difficult for the anesthesiologist to measure the proper dosage of anesthetics.

The best would be to forget about any alcohol drinks during the recovery time and instead use your time for more useful things, such as walking, doing light exercises, spoil yourself with massage procedures.

Dr. Seung Il Chung’s a Perfect V Line Mandible Jaw Surgery

Asians tend to have flat and wide faces, while Caucasians have dimensional facial contour. So, facial bone contouring surgeries, such as mandible jaw reduction surgery, cheekbone reduction surgery, etc., became popular among Asians who want to have small and dimensional faces.

Women contemplated and finally decided to have jaw surgeries, dreaming small and slender face, but sometimes their flat and wide face and blunt chin were not improved. Moreover, some of them even experience partial loss of sensation on their faces due to nerve damage(s) during surgery.

According to Dr. Seung Il Chung from the facial bone contouring center at ID hospital, “Prominent mandibular angle surgery which only cuts off the angled bones under the ears can only improve one’s profile. The surgery has limitation on improving one’s frontal image. Another jaw surgery which shaves the overall jaw with a continuous and smooth cut is also hard to express a perfect v-lined jaw. Also, the jaw shaving surgery contains high risk of nerve damage.”

To overcome the problems of those existing jaw surgeries and to achieve a perfect v-lined jaw, ‘V Line Surgery’ has become an alternative. ID hospital’s ‘V line surgery’ is a combination of existing ‘Prominent mandibular angle reduction surgery’ with a new surgery for the chin. ‘Prominent mandibular angle reduction surgery’ severs protruding mandibular angles, while the new surgery severs the chin in a T shape and gathers the side bones. So, V line surgery maximizes the slim effect of the jaw, especially when patients are seen from the front.

Dr. Seung Il Chung says that “V line surgery can adjust the length and the angle of chin in the harmony with the overall face. Also, the surgery is performed by avoiding the nerves, resulting in a great reduction in the danger of nerve damage. So, V line surgery guarantees patient’s safety and provides high satisfaction of surgery.

V line surgery is recommended for those who want to have customized facial contours which go well with their other facial parts; who want to have small and perfect v lined face; or who had jaw surgery before to remove mandibular angles but want to have revisional jaw surgery to improve their frontal views.
