Step 1 Cleaning your teeth

At the start of the whitening session, all debris and surface staining and accumulated tartar will be removed. The dentist will buff your teeth  with a polishing paste to make sure all stains and debris are removed

Step 2 Determining your pretreatment tooth shade

In order to see how effective the bleahing session has been, the dentist will document the pretreatment color of your teeth.

Step 3 Isolating your teeth

Peroxide whiteners can irritate or even damage soft tissues. Your gums, lips, cheeks, tongue, and even your face and eyes are exposed to risk.

Dental dams or liquid dams may be used and applied to issolate the teeth in order to properly seal around each tooth.

Cheek retractors, gauze, cotton rolls, face bibs, and/or protective eyewear may also be used.

Step 4 Application of whitener

At this point, the dentist will apply the bleaching agent. The gel will be dabbed or painted onto the surface of your teeth.

Step 5 Activation whitening light may or may not be used

This varies on the patient. If the dentist finds that the patient needs the light, then it will be used. If not, then it will not be necessary.

Step 6 Time!

The dentist will decide how long the gel/paste will remain on your teeth and for how long. 

It is possible to feel sensitivity during this time, the dentist will decide whether he prefer to cut your session time shorter because of this or not.

Step 7 Wrap up!

After time has been given to let the gel do its work, it will be cleaned and wiped to remove all the paste and material.

Step 8 Seeing the difference!

After everything has been wrapped up, the dentist will determine the new shade of your teeth. So simple, right?
