Originally, she inquired about both mandible reduction and genioplasty but the doctor found that the patient only needed mandible reduction since her chin was already well-balanced. The patient always felt that her jaw line, including the chin, was wide, but the doctor assured her that genioplasty would not be needed since the reduction of the mandible alone will give her chin the illusion of a more slim contour.
